FAITH IN GOD GIVES POWER

Faith in God gives power,

Faith in God should be practiced every hour,

Faith in God makes sweet fruits that were once sour,

Faith in God makes us conquer and devour.

Faith in God gives us a blessed promise,

Faith in God pulls us from the dark abyss,

Faith in God puts everything at ease,

Faith in God is boosted by prayer on bended knees.

Faith in God is more beautiful than a rose flower,

Faith in God is a strong tower,

Faith in God makes blessings shower,

Faith in God gives us the courage not to cower.

Faith in God makes us win,

Faith in God makes us overcome sin,

Faith in God makes us keen,

Faith in God gives us peace within.

1 Corinthians 15:14 (KJV) – “And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.”

Christ’s resurrection shows how powerful He is. Various people in the Bible raised people from the dead just like Christ did. For example, Peter and Paul. Therefore, as much as it is a mighty miracle, it is not a unique wonder. However, Peter and Paul are now dead, and they are not able to raise themselves. Christ raised Himself. This shows how exceedingly great the power of Jesus is. Therefore, the gospel of Jesus is powerful.

If Jesus could raise Himself from the dead, there is nothing He can’t do. Someone sick can receive healing after listening to a man of God preaching or a gospel musician singing because that preaching is backed up by divine power. Sermons and songs that lift Jesus and focus on Him alone will be able to do unusual things because God’s great power backs them up.

God’s divine might is expressed in the resurrection of Jesus because it is a power that gives life to the dead. Abraham’s loins and Sarah’s womb were dead, but God’s Word gave them life. God rewarded their faith with unusual power. Our faith is vain or empty because we do not believe that Jesus has the power to enable us to conquer all challenges.

Philippians 2:8-11 (KJV) – “And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Christ humbled Himself unto death. He humbled Himself even to the most painful and humiliating death, the death of the cross. People insulted Him, laughed at Him, mocked Him, spat at Him, and injured Him physically, among many other humiliating things, but He did not revenge. He did not do anything to showcase His power to them. He endured all these for our salvation.

Usually, when someone treats us with contempt, our carnal nature tries to prove to them that we are higher than what they perceive us to be. If someone insults us, we try to think of a worse insult than that which they have used on us so that we can win them. Many people work hard in life to achieve success to prove wrong the people who once esteemed them lowly.

Christ is different from us. Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV) – “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

If Christ reasoned the way we do, we would all be dead and forgotten. Jesus lived a life of humility, and through Him, He made us understand the nature of God. God is the humblest being in the universe. The Bible says as a result of His humility, God exalted Jesus and gave Him a name above every name. Humility gives power. It takes faith to be humble.

“There is a picture representing a bullock standing between a plow and an altar, with the inscription “Ready for either”—ready to toil in the furrow or to be offered on the altar of sacrifice. This is the position of the true child of God—willing to go where duty calls, to deny self, to sacrifice for the Redeemer’s cause.” – Lift Him Up, Page 247, Ellen G. White.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV) – “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.”

Jesus was rich but came on earth as a poor person so we could be rich. He uplifted us from a state of powerlessness to a state of power. Through His grace, He showers us blessings that we don’t deserve.

“Christ was treated as we deserve, that we might be treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which was His. “With His stripes, we are healed.” – The Desire of Ages, Page 25.2, Ellen G. White.

“By His life and His death, Christ has achieved even more than recovery from the ruin wrought through sin. It was Satan’s purpose to bring about an eternal separation between God and man; but in Christ we become more closely united to God than if we had never fallen. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” John 3:16. He gave Him not only to bear our sins, and to die as our sacrifice; He gave Him to the fallen race. To assure us of His immutable counsel of peace, God gave His only begotten Son to become one of the human family, forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His Word. “Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder.” God has adopted human nature in the person of His Son, and has carried the same into the highest heaven. It is the “Son of man” who shares the throne of the universe. It is the “Son of man” whose name shall be called, “Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6. The I AM is the Daysman between God and humanity, laying His hand upon both. He who is “holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners” is not ashamed to call us brethren. Hebrews 7:26; 2:11. In Christ the family of earth and the family of heaven are bound together. Christ glorified is our brother. Heaven is enshrined in humanity, and humanity is enfolded in the bosom of Infinite Love” – The Desire of Ages, Page 25.3, Ellen G. White.

The resurrection of Jesus should strengthen our faith. Our faith should not be weak and empty because we believe in a God who possesses infinite power. Christ was treated as we deserve so that we might be treated as He deserves. Through Him, we inherit marvelous blessings, including eternal life.

Luke 19:10 (KJV) – “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” The work of salvation is also a work of restoration. However, His death and resurrection have achieved more than the restoration of the damage that sin brought to this world.

Ephesians 1:19-20 (NKJV) – “19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.

The infinite power of Christ backs up those who choose to believe in God. As the Bible describes, the power that backs us up is exceeding great. Unfortunately, few believers know this, and the Devil takes this opportunity to torture them relentlessly. Once we believe in God and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we get that power immediately.

God gives us the ability to overcome the vilest temptations. His power helps us overcome the most dreadful addictions. His power enables us to keep all the commandments, including those we never imagined keeping. His power helps us overcome evil traditional practices. Some people cannot keep the Sabbath because they were born into families that do not observe the Sabbath. Hence, they find it challenging to adopt a new practice.

Once Jesus saves us, He makes it easy for us to obey all His commandments, including the Sabbath. He gives us the power to overcome the temptation of intemperate eating, evil movies and secular music among others. It is a blessed decision to give yourself to Christ. It is a decision that needs faith. If we have faith, we will inherit all this power.

The Bible says in Romans 8:37 (KJV) – Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” We are not conquerors; we are more than conquerors. We are not about to conquer; we have already conquered. Let us have faith that we have already won the battle.

What practices hinder our access to God’s power?

  1. Unbelief which leads to sin.
  2. Lack of praying.
  3. Lack of Bible study.
  4. Spending time watching and listening to secular content.

Philippians 4:13 (KJV) – “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

I can do nothing without God. I can do everything with God by my side. In the days of Moses, the magicians could replicate some of the wonders that Moses did but not all of them. When Moses made a snake from his rod, the magicians did the same thing, but Moses’ snake ate all the snakes. We should believe in God and seek Him as our source of strength and not seek other evil forces. God’s power is above all power.

GOD BLESS YOU!

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the power that faith in You bestows upon us. May our faith be unwavering, practiced every hour, minute, and second, and may it transform our lives. As we reflect on the resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ, grant us the strength to overcome challenges, the humility to follow His example, and the wisdom to seek Your power in all aspects of our lives. May our faith in You be a source of blessings, courage, and peace within. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
