The test given to Abraham was not an easy test,
It was a test of faith to prove if he had faith or was faithless,
The test given to Abraham made him more blessed,
For he took God’s Word seriously and was not careless.
How many can pass such a challenging test?
Can you cling to God and believe that He is the very best?
God is asking you to depend on Him to give you rest,
You shall have peace and joy if in Godliness you take interest.
God’s test to Abraham had a purpose; it was not aimless,
The tests we get daily are meant to lead us to greatness,
We shall overcome them if we set aside prayerlessness,
The tests God gives us will lead us to excellence.
Faith in God is obeying Him even when it is not convenient,
God shuns the proud and honors the humble and obedient,
Have faith in God, even when you see no meaning yet,
God is powerful, more than a mighty warrior or president.
Hebrews 11:17-19 (KJV) – “17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: 19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
God told Abraham that it is through Isaac that Abraham shall receive innumerable descendants. After God gave Abraham Isaac, He told him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham might have wondered how God promised to bless him through Isaac while still expecting him to give Isaac as a burnt offering to God. This request might not have made sense to Abraham. However, Abraham did not let such thoughts derail him from fulfilling God’s purpose. He was quick to obey God. He did not allow thoughts of doubt to linger in his mind. The Bible records in Genesis 22:3 that Abraham rose early in the morning.
Genesis 22:2 (KJV) – “And He said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
God commanded Abraham to take his son. If God left that command at that point, Abraham would have taken Ishmael since Ishmael was also his son. Abraham would have had the option to sacrifice his servant Eleazar since he also regarded him as his son. God chose to be specific and told him to sacrifice Isaac, the son of promise, the son of faith.
Isaac was gotten when Abraham and Sarah were very old. He was gotten when both of them were past the age of having children. Before getting Isaac, they had diligently and fervently prayed to God for a long time, and God seemed to have delayed their prayers. They had served God for a long time because Abraham was called by God when he was seventy-five years old and got Isaac when he was one hundred years old. Thoughts of giving up might have crossed their mind as they were only human. After getting Isaac, God tells Abraham to take Isaac and offer him as a burnt offering.
Genesis 22:3 (KJV) – “And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.”
Despite Abraham loving his son, he did not delay. He rose early in the morning. When God gives you work to do, embark on it immediately. Delay increases doubt, while immediate action boosts faith. Wake up early in the morning to work on your purpose. Rising early in the morning by 5 AM or before 5 AM gives you a tranquil environment to work on your purpose because almost everybody else is asleep at that time. We have often heard of the popular saying, “the early bird catches the worm.”
If Abraham had woken up late, he might have gotten discouraged by his wife, Sarah, or other people. Something might have happened in the course of that day to prevent him or to derail him from carrying out his God-given mission. I have personally experienced when I wake up early, I am able to accomplish so much compared to when I wake up late. Early mornings usually have no distractions.
Whenever I rise early, I feel more energetic to carry out duties till late at night. However, when I wake up late, I tend to feel tired and unwilling to do anything. In the book, The 5 AM Club: Own Your Morning, Elevate Your Life, Robin Sharma writes, “Take excellent care of the frontend of your day, and the rest of your day will pretty much take care of itself.”
Procrastination is Satan’s most effective weapon that he uses to ensure that God’s purpose is not fulfilled. This weapon is deadly in the battle between light and darkness. In the great controversy between good and evil, evil prevails when men and women procrastinate to do that which God has called them to do. It may not seem harmful when you say, I will do this after one hour (while you have the time to do it), or I will do this tomorrow. A little delay makes the task appear to be bigger than it really is. When Satan sees that you have deliberately chosen to delay, he brings in more distractions to ensure that you do not get back to the task.
The more you entertain delay, the more your life keeps on getting harmed. Some have earnestly prayed to God for a financial breakthrough. God answers their prayer by giving them a business idea. Unfortunately, they procrastinate on it. As a result, poverty and less financial freedom keep on holding them down. Some have prayed for God to enable them to get close to Him. God answers their prayer by sending someone to suggest to them to study the Bible or to serve in the church. They delay, and as a result, sin keeps on pulling them down.
We need to be careful about some of the things that people suggest to us, even though sometimes those suggestions may not look so serious. If those suggestions are in accordance with the will of God, we should take them as commands and be quick to do them. Before I started my blog, my friend Moses Nguma suggested to me to post spiritual material on social media. I was not so cognizant of God’s voice at that time, and therefore, I did not take his words seriously.
When I started doing individual Bible study, I found it profitable to be sharing what I have learned every day on social media. After I started sharing, about two or three friends suggested I start a blog; that is how I ended up starting gettruthgetlife.com.
After starting the blog, some people have suggested that I should start a podcast, while some have suggested that I should write books. The blog has made me get invited to various places to preach God’s Word. Once I go to those places, more opportunities to serve God keep showing up, and in return, I get blessed. Truly, the harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few. Many have not been able to reap the harvest that God has in store for them because of delay.
Some quotes that can help to motivate you against delay:
“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.” – Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment.
“The more you are focused on time-past and future-the more you miss the Now, the more precious thing there is.” – Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment.
“The longer, I avoided the task, the larger it appeared and the greater number of reasons I saw for it being impossible.” – The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication, John C. Maxwell.
Abraham did not go alone with his son. He took two extra men to assist him. God’s work will be easier when we cooperate with others compared with doing the entire work alone. When you give someone an opportunity to serve God, you are giving that person a chance to be a blessing and a chance to be blessed by God.
Genesis 2:18 (KJV) – “And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone.” God wants us to collaborate. In John C. Maxwell’s book, The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communications, the eminent leadership coach writes, “Groups are often smarter than the smartest people in them.” In the same book, he also says, “No one person has all the answers.” Former NFL Coach Bill Parcells says, “Individuals play the game, but teams win championships.”
Other quotes on collaboration:
“It makes a big step in your development when you come to realize that other people can help you do a better job than you can do alone.” – Billionaire American Industrialist and Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
“Great thoughts are birthed out of many good thoughts.” – The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication, John C. Maxwell.
“Collaboration has a multiplying effect. It is like the difference between one plus one which is two and one beside one which is eleven.” – The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication, John C. Maxwell.
“We should not only use all the brains we have but all the brains we can borrow.” – Former U.S.A President Woodrow Wilson.
“The best ideas added together give you a breakthrough.” – The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication, John C. Maxwell.
“An idea does not have to be your idea to be good.” – The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication, John C. Maxwell.
“Ideas are birthed during times of collaboration. Ideas are proved during times of action and ideas are improved during times of reflection.” – The 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication, John C. Maxwell.
John C. Maxwell was playing golf with his editor, Victor. Victor told him about a book he had read called The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing. He suggested to him that he can do the same and write about laws of leadership. That is how John C. Maxwell got the idea to write The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, which is now the best-selling leadership book of all time. God wants you to collaborate.
Abraham collaborated with two young men to assist him in the mission. We need more young men and women to help in the spectacular work of spreading the gospel.
1 Timothy 4:12 (KJV) – “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
In fulfilling God’s purpose, nobody should be despised. Each person is very important to God. Therefore, everyone should be highly regarded by us. When people tried to block the little children from coming to Jesus, Jesus forbade them from doing so. Jesus hung out with people who were regarded as the worst sinners. He socialized with poor people and people who were meant to be outcasts, such as leprous people. Human beings put various barricades on people regarding their age and social status, not God. I have heard various people say that the minimum age for a child to be baptized is age twelve. Such assertions are unbiblical. The Bible does not specify the minimum or maximum age that qualifies someone to go to Christ.
The Bible says in 1 Timothy 4:12 (KJV) – “Let no man despise thy youth.” It is quite common to get despised by human beings because one is young. However, one should not cease fulfilling God’s purpose because of the contempt, mockery, or ridicule that comes from people.
Satan uses people who treat you with contempt as a distraction to make you get discouraged and to stop you from improving your life and the lives of others. As a young man or woman, you need to have steadfastness of purpose in your God-given endeavors. Be a worthy example to everyone in everything that you do. Everyone alive has a role to play in this world. Therefore, no one should be underrated or sidelined. We should view everyone the way God views them.
John 6:9 (KJV) – “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?”
The young boy with five barley loaves and two fish was used as an instrument by God to feed a multitude of more than five thousand people. He might have appeared insignificant because of his young age. What he was carrying also appeared immaterial when Andrew asked, “What are they among so many?” The Bible says in John 6:6 (KJV) – “For He Himself knew what He would do.” Before Jesus sought the opinion of Philip and Andrew, He already knew what He would do. He knew He was going to use that young boy miraculously with the little that he had to feed the whole multitude. A little goes a long way when backed up by God’s provision.
If you are a young person who is fully devoted to God, God will do great things through you. It does not matter whether you are in kindergarten, primary, high school, or college. It does not matter whether you are highly educated or not. God can use you, as little as you are, with the little that you have to do big things that are beyond your size, strength, intellect, and age.
The young boy with five barley loaves and two fish witnessed the power of God working through Him to bless an entire multitude because he was at the right place. A question to young men and women is, “Are you at the right place?” If the boy had been at the club or in a casino, he would not have witnessed God’s power. He would not have encountered God, making him great to the extent that his story is read till today.
Jeremiah 1:6-7 (KJV) – “6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. 7 But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.”
God told Jeremiah his purpose when he was very young, and He expected him to embark on it immediately. Jeremiah told God that he cannot speak because he was a child. God did not accept that excuse. He told Jeremiah, “Do not say that you are a child.” God was telling Jeremiah that young age is not an excuse. He was telling him that one cannot be too young to serve God. Even a toddler who cannot walk or talk has a place in the service of God. Never have age as an excuse for not doing what God has told you. In fact, you should not have any excuse at all. Distractions may come frequently, but be dependent upon God’s power to overcome them.
Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 (NKJV) – “9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth; Walk in the ways of your heart, And in the sight of your eyes; But know that for all these God will bring you into judgment. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, And put away evil from your flesh, For childhood and youth are vanity.”
Childhood and youth only last for a short time. In most countries, childhood is usually from zero to eighteen years. A person who lives up to the age of seventy (the average lifespan) will have fifty-two years as an adult and eighteen years as a child. The years of one’s youth are fleeting; they go so fast, and before you realize it, you are no longer a youth. Therefore, it is wise for one to use those years when they have sufficient energy to serve God diligently.
Worshipping God and serving Him are not as boring activities as many think them to be. Not only is there peace that surpasses understanding, but there is also great joy when one serves God. The closer you get to God, the happier you become. Pastor Olunga Otieno says, “The man who walks in the way of sinners is in hell even before he physically goes to hell.” Life’s challenges do not have as much weight in the hearts of believers as they do on unbelievers. Therefore, as a young person, you need to rejoice in your youth. You should have great delight when working for God. If you do that, you will encounter true happiness, and you will add value to your life as well as the lives of others.
Genesis 22:5 (KJV) – “And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.”
“Abraham was full of faith when he spoke to the young men who were with him. He believed that both he and Issac would return; that we will come back, and he told them so. This does not mean that Abraham somehow knew this was only a test and God would not really require this of him. Instead, Abraham’s faith was in understanding that should he kill Isaac, God would raise him from the dead, because God had promised Isaac would carry on the line of blessing and the covenant.” – Enduring Word Bible Commentary, David Guzik.
Abraham understood that God is not a man and that He cannot lie. He understood that God fulfills His promises, and when He says something, He will do it. God had promised to bless Abraham and make a multitude from him that was as innumerable as the stars of the sky or the sand on the seashore. Having interacted with God for a long time, Abraham knew that there is no command that God gives which does not result in a blessing. Therefore, he knew even this tough command that God gave him of killing his son would result in a blessing in the end. He understood that God is not only the giver of life, but He is Life itself. He knew that once he sacrificed Isaac, God could raise him again since nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).
“He left his servants at some distance off (v. 5), lest they should interpose, and create him some disturbance in his strange oblation; for Isaac was, no doubt, the darling of the whole family. Thus, when Christ was entering upon His agony in the garden, he took only three of His disciples with Him, and left the rest at the garden door. Note, It is our wisdom and duty, when we are going to worship God, to lay aside all those thoughts and cares which may divert us from the service, leave them at the bottom of the hill, that we may attend on the Lord without distraction.” – Matthew Henry Bible Commentary, Matthew Henry.
“Distraction follows intention.” – Myron Golden. Anytime you are embarking on something that will make you successful, you will face lots of distractions. Do everything in your power to ensure that you are not the one responsible for those distractions. For example, you may have set a specific time of the day to conduct your personal devotion. Do not distract that precious time by going on social media. Do everything in your power to avoid distraction. The only distractions that should come to you are those that are beyond your ability to avoid. For example, after Jesus had fasted, Satan came to Him to distract Him from His mission. He did not go looking for Satan. Do not go looking for the Devil. Let Him come to you. Too often, we fall into temptation because we go looking for the Devil.
We should be intentional in ensuring that we have done away with all that may divert us from God’s service. Sarah was highly essential in the life of Abraham since she was his wife, but she was not essential in the mission of sacrificing Isaac that God had given Abraham. The two young men who were accompanying Abraham were necessary for traveling with Abraham on the journey, which is why he brought them along. However, they were not necessary to go to the altar of sacrifice with Abraham and Isaac.
Your phone and other mobile electronic communication devices are necessary in your daily life as they help make communication efficient and effective, but they are unnecessary during church service. Therefore, switch them off or put them in flight mode when in church. Social media is necessary as it helps you get more clients for your business, but it is unnecessary when worshipping God. Socializing with friends is necessary and beneficial for the betterment of one’s life, but it is unessential when the preacher is preaching a sermon. Checking your work emails is necessary to ensure that you don’t miss out on any important communication, but it is unnecessary on the Sabbath day when your entire focus ought to be on God.
Genesis 22:7-8 (KJV) – “7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”
“Even now he did not murmur against God, but strengthened his soul by dwelling upon the evidences of the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness. This son had been unexpectedly given; and had not He who bestowed the precious gift a right to recall His own? Then faith repeated the promise, “In Isaac shall thy seed be called”—a seed numberless as the grains of sand upon the shore. Isaac was the child of a miracle, and could not the power that gave him life restore it? Looking beyond that which was seen, Abraham grasped the divine word, “accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead.” Hebrews 11:19.” – Patriarchs and Prophets, Page 151.4, Ellen G. White.
“Yet none but God could understand how great was the father’s sacrifice in yielding up his son to death; Abraham desired that none but God should witness the parting scene. He bade his servants remain behind, saying, “I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.” The wood was laid upon Isaac, the one to be offered, the father took the knife and the fire, and together they ascended toward the mountain summit, the young man silently wondering whence, so far from folds and flocks, the offering was to come. At last he spoke, “My father,” “behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Oh, what a test was this! How the endearing words, “my father,” pierced Abraham’s heart! Not yet—he could not tell him now. “My son,” he said, “God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering.” – Patriarchs and Prophets, Page 152.1, Ellen G. White.
Abraham believed that God is the provider because He always provided for him whenever he needed something. We should not delay or fail to do God’s work because of lack of resources. We should use what we have and do all we can to fulfill God’s purpose. If God finds it necessary to add something to assist in fulfilling His purpose, He will do so. The burnt offering was to be used at the altar. However, before Abraham and Isaac reached the altar, they still had some walking to do. If they had carried a lamb on the journey, it would tire them because they would have extra luggage to carry.
Isaac did not suggest to his father Abraham to stop the journey because they did not have a burnt offering. After his father told him that God would provide, he was satisfied with that answer, and he continued with the journey. Too many times, we trouble our leaders with doubts and complaints when we realize there are insufficient resources. We would often ask, “How can this be successful, and we do not have this and this?” Abraham and Isaac journeyed on. You should not stop working on your business idea because you do not have the capital to start. God will provide capital for you when you have reached the level that you need it most.
Genesis 22:9-12 (KJV) – “9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.”
“Abraham’s great act of faith stands like a pillar of light, illuminating the pathway of God’s servants in all succeeding ages. Abraham did not seek to excuse himself from doing the will of God. During that three days’ journey he had sufficient time to reason, and to doubt God, if he was disposed to doubt. He might have reasoned that the slaying of his son would cause him to be looked upon as a murderer, a second Cain; that it would cause his teaching to be rejected and despised; and thus destroy his power to do good to his fellow men. He might have pleaded that age should excuse him from obedience. But the patriarch did not take refuge in any of these excuses. Abraham was human; his passions and attachments were like ours; but he did not stop to question how the promise could be fulfilled if Isaac should be slain. He did not stay to reason with his aching heart. He knew that God is just and righteous in all His requirements, and he obeyed the command to the very letter.” – Patriarchs and Prophets, Page 153.3, Ellen G. White.
It was when Abraham reached the place that God had told him, and did exactly what God had commanded him that the Lord stopped him from sacrificing his son and gave him a ram for a sacrifice. Abraham believed that God would provide even before He provided, and indeed, God provided.
God provided for Abraham after he built an altar, laid the wood in order, and put his son Isaac on the altar. In other words, God provided for Abraham when he was fully ready. Are you fully ready to receive the blessing that you are entrusting God for? You are asking God for a spouse; are you ready to receive your future husband or wife? Is your character and personality suitable for the person you are asking God for? Are you the person that you want to be with?
You are asking God for a certain job, are your soft skills and hard skills enough to receive that job? You are asking God for money. Is your character ready to handle that money that you are consistently praying for? The ram would have been a burden to Abraham and Isaac if God provided it before they reached the altar since they would have had to carry it. If God gives you your blessing before you are ready, it will be a burden to you, and it will end up in a curse rather than a blessing.
Genesis 22:15-18 (KJV) – “15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, 16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son. 17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”
God blessed Abraham and gave him a reason for that blessing. The reason was that he did not withhold his son from God. In Genesis 22:2, God addresses Isaac as Abraham’s only begotten son whom he loves. By offering Isaac, Abraham proved to God that he was willing to give all he had for God’s cause. He had spent a huge amount of his adult life hoping and praying for a child. Some people cannot return tithe or give their money to charity because they have spent years working hard for it. Some people have chosen to be selfish because of reminiscing about the struggles they went through before acquiring money.
Some parents bring up their children poorly by satisfying the child’s selfish desires because they waited for a long time before having that child. This also happens in some families where the majority of the children are of the same gender, and there is only one who is of a different gender. For example, a family that has six girls and only one boy. In such families, the child is treated with uttermost tenderness and given everything they ask for, including what is harmful to them. As a result, the child ends up being irresponsible with habits that become very challenging to correct since they have been nurtured for a long time. This bad character is brought as a result of the parents withholding their child from God. If Abraham withheld his son from God, God would not have given him all those blessings that He gave him.
Malachi 3:10-11 (KJV) – “10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.”
We have missed out on the windows of heaven being opened for us and the devourer being rebuked for our sake because of withholding our money from God. We have missed out on various opportunities because of withholding our talents and skills from God. We have missed out on tremendous blessings because of withholding our lives from God.
Mark 10:29-30 (KJV) – “29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”
“Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God.” James 2:23. And Paul says, “They which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.” Galatians 3:7. But Abraham’s faith was made manifest by his works. “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?” James 2:21, 22. There are many who fail to understand the relation of faith and works. They say, “Only believe in Christ, and you are safe. You have nothing to do with keeping the law.” But genuine faith will be manifest in obedience. Said Christ to the unbelieving Jews, “If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.” John 8:39. And concerning the father of the faithful the Lord declares, “Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” Genesis 26:5. Says the apostle James, “Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” James 2:17. And John, who dwells so fully upon love, tells us, “This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.” 1 John 5:3.” – Patriarchs and Prophets, Page 153.4, Ellen G. White.
Deuteronomy 28:1 (KJV) – “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.”
Even though God prevented Abraham from slaying his son, God considered Abraham’s action as done. He did not do it, but he committed in his heart to do it. He proved this commitment by traveling to the place where God had told them to go for three days with his son and two young men and laying his son on the altar, ready to sacrifice him. If God had not stopped him, he would have sacrificed his son. This action of obedience does not mean he hated his son; it meant that he loved God more.
While God issued that command to Abraham, He told him, “Take your son whom you love.” It might have been a painful experience for Abraham to picture his only begotten son, whom they had prayed for so much leaving them, but he placed faith above emotions. He placed faith above family attachments. He had a strong desire to please God rather than to please Himself. Most of the problems we are facing in the world today would be gone if the desire to please God was stronger in men and women than the desire to please themselves.
GOD BLESS YOU!
Prayer
Dear God, I surrender everything in my possession to you. Teach me how to use everything that you have given me for your glory and the blessing of your people. Please help me to overcome all challenges with your divine power. Help me overcome all distractions that distract me from my purpose. In Jesus name, Amen.
Activity
- Write down the challenges that you have faced this week. Have you been able to overcome them? Reflect on how God enabled you to overcome them. The ones you have not been able to overcome, ask God to help you overcome.
- What is that one thing that you hold so dearly to? Surrender it to God.
- Who is that one person that you hold on so dearly to? (might be your child, friend, spouse, parent) Surrender them to God.
- What are some of the distractions you face while serving God? Serving God is not just in church, it can be at your workplace. Prayerfully brainstorm methods that you can use to overcome those distractions.
