PLEASE GOD AND NEVER BE LONELY

KEY TEXT: John 8:29 (KJV) -“And He that sent Me is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone; for I do always those things that please Him.”

“It is the love of self that destroys our peace. While self is all alive, we stand ready continually to guard it from mortification and insult; but when we are dead, and our life is hid with Christ in God, we shall not take neglects or slights to heart. We shall be deaf to reproach and blind to scorn and insult. . . .”— Homeward Bound, p. 132.3, Ellen G. White

“Happiness drawn from earthly sources is as changeable as varying circumstances can make it; but the peace of Christ is a constant and abiding peace. It does not depend upon any circumstances in life, on the amount of worldly goods or the number of earthly friends. Christ is the fountain of living water, and happiness drawn from Him can never fail.”— Homeward Bound, p. 132.4, Ellen G. White

God the Father never left Jesus alone because Jesus always did those things that pleased Him. As long as you always do the things that please God, the Heavenly family will never leave you alone. When God is with you, Jesus is with you, the Holy Spirit is with you, and all the angels are with you (Matthew 28:20; Psalm 34:7; John 14:16–18, KJV).

When the Heavenly family is with you, you have a full supply of all that you need (Philippians 4:19, KJV). You have ultimate protection that no earthly security can match (Psalm 91:1–4, KJV). You have the perfect guidance and counsel needed to steer your life (Isaiah 9:6; Psalm 32:8, KJV). You also have the full provision of the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23, KJV). You have access to resources beyond what the earth can supply (2 Corinthians 9:8, KJV).

When everyone in this world deserts you and leaves you alone, you will feel extremely lonely because no one is by your side (Psalm 27:10, KJV). However, when the Heavenly family is with you, you have infinite comfort because everyone you truly need is by your side (Isaiah 41:10; Hebrews 13:5, KJV).

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) – “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

When you please God, He rewards you, and the greatest reward He gives is His presence in your life (Exodus 33:14; Psalm 16:11, KJV). When you please God, He holds your hand wherever you go and bears you up in His arms lest you dash your foot against a stone (Isaiah 41:13, KJV; Psalm 91:12).

When you go against God’s commandments and do things to please yourself or please other people, loneliness is the result. This is because no human being is omnipresent, no human can follow you wherever you go, and no human is immortal (Jeremiah 17:5; Psalm 118:8–9, KJV).

You may be afraid to talk about the Sabbath because the majority of the Christian world does not obey the fourth commandment. Therefore, you may try to keep friends by withholding the truth. God does not want you to do that. God wants you to go out and teach all nations the entire truth that He has taught you (Matthew 28:19–20; Ezekiel 33:7–9, KJV).

In the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11–32, KJV), the father did not want his son to leave him. However, when his son made the decision to leave, the father allowed him to go. God does not want to leave you, but when you choose to leave Him, He allows you to have your own way
(Hosea 4:17; Revelation 3:20, KJV).

John 14:6 (KJV) -“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Life without Jesus can never be in harmony. There is no life outside Jesus because Jesus is life (John 1:4; Colossians 3:4, KJV). There is no other truth than Jesus because Jesus is truth (John 1:14; John 17:17, KJV; John 14:6). There is no direction without Jesus because Jesus is the way (Proverbs 3:5–6, KJV; John 14:6).

GOD BLESS YOU!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, teach me to do the things that please You. Remove self from my heart and fill me with Your Spirit. Help me to value Your presence above human approval, and give me courage to stand for the full truth. Never let me walk alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Activity

  1. Read John 8:29 and Hebrews 11:6 slowly.
  2. Ask yourself: “Am I making choices to please God or to please people?”
  3. Write down one area where you need to choose obedience over approval.
  4. Pray and take one step this week regarding truth to honor God.
