Get Truth Get Life

KEY TEXT: Exodus 23:22 (AMP) – “But if you will indeed listen to and truly obey His voice and do everything that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.”

“God had made it their privilege and their duty to enter the land at the time of His appointment, but through their willful neglect that permission had been withdrawn. Satan had gained his object in preventing them from entering Canaan; and now he urged them on to do the very thing, in the face of the divine prohibition, which they had refused to do when God needed it. Thus the great deceiver gained the victory by leading them to rebellion the second time. They had distrusted the power of God to work with their efforts in gaining possession of Canaan; yet now they presumed upon their own strength to accomplish the work independent of divine aid. “We have sinned against the Lord,” they cried; “we will go up and fight, according to all that the Lord our God commanded us.” Deuteronomy 1:41. So terribly blinded had they become by transgression. The Lord had never commanded them to “go up and fight.” It was not His purpose that they should gain the land by warfare, but by strict obedience to His commands.” – Patriarchs and Prophets, Page 392.3, Ellen G. White.

God intended that the Israelites should defeat the nations blocking them to enter the promised land. He also intended the Israelites to defeat the people occupying the promised land. Those nations that God wanted the Israelites to defeat were unbelieving nations.

Israel was the only nation that knew God. Thus, He wanted the Israelites to corporate with Him so that other nations can know that there is only one God who is more powerful than their small man-made gods.

If Israel cooperated with God by having faith in Him which was to be expressed through obedience, God would work hand in hand with them. Therefore, it would not be their enemies against them, it would be their enemies against the only living God. The Israelites would rest while God fights all battles for them. However, disobedience to God would remove the Israelites from God’s side and put them on the side of their enemies. Life would be extremely difficult for them because they would be fighting against their enemies and fighting against God.

In the wilderness, the Israelites had too many enemies who were well equipped and they had no ability to fight against them. Secondly, the Israelites (and anyone else for that matter) has no ability to fight against God. Disobedience to God and unbelief would cause them to struggle and lose. When you know the truth, when you know Jesus Christ and you don’t obey Him, you will struggle more than those who do not know Him. When you know the Sabbath and don’t keep it, you will struggle more than those who do not know anything about it. This is because you will be fighting against God and you are fighting against the strongest forces in the earth.

Faith and obedience to God would make the Israelites easily win. Faith and obedience to God will make you win too.

Are you struggling? Are your enemies overpowering you? The key to end your struggles and to defeat your enemies is aligning with God’s Word. Leave no loophole in your soul, mind and body for the enemy to invade and make you struggle. Therefore, love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Mark 12:29-30).

Prayer

Dear God, forgive me for putting myself in the struggles that I have placed myself in. Please close all the loopholes in my soul, heart and mind that the enemy uses to invade. I ask You Lord to help me to always seek Your guidance and to humbly align with Your what your Word says. In Jesus name, Amen.
