How big are your prayers?
Tell them all to Jesus who cares.
Do not be afraid to share,
Faith in God is praying big prayers.
Your burden, God promises to carry,
Trust Him and have no worry,
Have no anxiety, have no hurry,
God is not slow; He does not tarry.
They brought Jesus a man sick on a bed,
He was made pure, though his sins were crimson red,
For they brought him to the One who made,
Heaven and earth, for us, His blood He shed.
Nothing so big for God,
Therefore, trust in the Lord,
He is strong enough to carry your Load,
So, pray Big and have trust in the Lord.
Matthew 9:2 (KJV) – “And, behold, they brought to Him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.”
What disease was palsy? The term “palsy” in historical and biblical contexts referred to various forms of paralysis or conditions involving loss of motor function. In the story of the centurion’s servant, the word “palsy” is used in the King James Version of the Bible to describe the servant’s condition. While modern medical terminology has more specific classifications, “palsy” in this context likely referred to a condition that involved severe muscle weakness, paralysis, and possibly tremors or convulsions.
Jesus saw their faith because they brought to Him a person with a chronic illness. Being God from the beginning, He was used to people praying small and faithless prayers. He was used to people coming to Him with small requests. He was used to people coming to Him with small illnesses and very few people believed that He could cure the worst diseases.
Many people limit God. They ask God for things which seem reasonable to them and right within their reach. However, when it comes to things that are beyond their reach, they avoid asking God. Therefore, they resolve to going to other mediums like witch doctors.
1 Kings 8:27 (KJ21) – “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain Thee; how much less this house that I have built!”
God is not a small God. God is a big God. Therefore, we need to address Him in a big way. We ought to pray big prayers. There is no problem in approaching God with small requests because God intends that we should tell Him of every little thing that is bothering and worrying us. However, God does not want us to hide our mega desires, wishes, dreams, fantasies, and imaginations from Him.
Luke 1:37 (KJ21) – “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
We need to normalize asking God for the impossible not just the possible.
Psalm 90:2 (KJ21): “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God.”
God reigns from everlasting to everlasting. He is infinite. He can never run short of supply of whatever we ask from Him.
Exodus 31:13 (KJ21) – “Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, ‘Verily My Sabbaths ye shall keep; for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that ye may know that I am the Lord who doth sanctify you.”
Exodus 31:13 tells us that it is God who sanctifies us. What big sin or evil addiction are you struggling with? Ask God to help you stop it. For example, you may be struggling with pornography but the major sin encompassing it is lust. Ask God to help you overcome the spirit of lust instead of asking Him to help you overcome the sin of watching pornography alone. Do you desire your business to have a global presence? Ask God to make it possible. Do you want to have genius level ability in your weakest subject in school? Ask God to make it possible. Do you want to produce new inventions in a certain field? Ask God to give you ideas for new inventions.
“How often the disciples’ experience is ours! When the tempests of temptation gather, and the fierce lightnings flash, and the waves sweep over us, we battle with the storm alone, forgetting that there is One who can help us. We trust to our own strength till our hope is lost, and we are ready to perish. Then we remember Jesus, and if we call upon Him to save us, we shall not cry in vain. Though He sorrowfully reproves our unbelief and self-confidence, He never fails to give us the help we need. Whether on the land or on the sea, if we have the Saviour in our hearts, there is no need of fear. Living faith in the Redeemer will smooth the sea of life, and will deliver us from danger in the way that He knows to be best.“ – The Desire of Ages, Page 336.3, Ellen G. White.
Faith in God is normalizing big prayers and trusting that God is faithful to answer them.

Prayers
O Lord, I exalt you and glorify your magnificent name. Please help me to see possibilities in everything that seems impossible. Lord, make the things that seem difficult for me easy to do. Help me to keep my ambitions high and to trust in You and believe with you it is possible to achieve them. Help all those who are discouraged and make them believe that You can do all things. In Jesus name. Amen.
Activity
- What massive ambition do you have in your heart, and you are feeling it is impossible to achieve? Find out through Bible study if it is God’s will. If it is, write it down and pray for it till you get it.
- Write down the sins that you are struggling with and ask God to take them away completely.
- Write down the impossible tasks in your line of school or work and ask God to make it possible for you to do them.
- Reflect and mediate on Philippians 4:13. Make that affirmation daily when you wake up and before you go to sleep.
- Find someone (if you can) who is discouraged and pray for their needs while encouraging them.
