THE FORMULA FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS

KEY TEXT: Leviticus 26:3-4 (KJV) – “3 If ye walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, and do them; 4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.”

Verse 3 starts with the word ‘if’. The word ‘if’ signifies a condition. Verse 4 starts with the word ‘then’. The word then signifies the results that will follow once that condition is met.

God is saying that if you keep His commandments, He is responsible for your blessing. God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19). His promises are more sure than the sun’s rising. God is specific when He says, “My commandments,” meaning when you obey someone else other than God you need to rely on that person for your blessings. The tragedy is that the other person you may rely on is limited (this includes the Devil). God is unlimited because He is naturally infinite, He reigns from everlasting to everlasting (Psalm 90:2). What God has is unlimited because He has the ability to create more.

The best way God explains this blessing is by symbolizing it with rain.

  • Rain pours from above, meaning your blessings will pour from above down to you.
  • Rain causes plants to grow and stay alive and healthy. This attribute means that God’s blessing will cause all your possessions to increase. In addition to that, the blessing will maintain your increase.
  • Rain is good, but when it pours on you, you want to shelter from it. God will pour a blessing on you that you will feel the need to shelter from it. God will bless you till you start complaining.

Someone may say, “I have been obeying God and He hasn’t blessed me yet.”

Notice the phrase in Leviticus 23:4, “rain in due season.” In due season means at the right time. Therefore be patient and wait upon the Lord. He will work it out for you at the right time.

Don’t give up! Increase your zeal and persistence. In Luke 18, there is a blind man who requested Jesus to heal him when Jesus was passing by where he was. The people saw his action and rebuked him. Even after seeing the action from the multitude he did not give up. Verse 39 says that he cried out louder than before. You need have the determination and persistence in righteousness of that blind man.

And what commandments is God saying? Read Exodus 20:3-17. Each commandment has its own blessing, even the Sabbath commandment that is widely neglected in the Christian community.

“Service Brings Reward – While the great final reward is given at Christ’s coming, truehearted service for God brings a reward even in this life.” – Welfare Ministry Page 311.1, Ellen G. White.

“Perplexing Problems Will Be Solved – If you will seek the Lord and be converted every day, if you will of your own spiritual choice be free and joyous in God, if with gladsome consent of heart to His gracious call, you come wearing the yoke of Christ – the yoke of obedience and service – all your murmurings will be stilled, all your difficulties will be removed, all the perplexing problems that now confront you will be solved.” – Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, Page 101, Ellen G. White.

THE FORMULA FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS IS TOTAL OBEDIENCE TO GOD.

GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY, SHALOM!

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your promises of blessings that come from obedience to Your Word. We choose today to walk in Your statutes, keep Your commandments, and do them with a heart full of faith. We trust in Your timing and believe that in due season, You will pour out Your blessings upon us. Help us remain patient and persistent in doing what pleases You, knowing that Your rewards are sure and abundant. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Activity

  1. Obedience Check: Take time today to reflect on areas in your life where you may not be fully obeying God’s commands. Are there any areas where you are relying on something or someone other than God for your blessings? Write them down and pray for God’s strength to help you fully commit to obeying Him in those areas.
  2. Act on a Commandment: Choose one of God’s commandments from Exodus 20:3-17 and make a focused effort to obey it today. For example, if it’s the Sabbath commandment, make a point to observe the Sabbath in a special way, focusing on rest and connection with God. Or if it’s a command to love your neighbor, perform a simple act of kindness that demonstrates that love.
  3. Gratitude Journal: Keep a gratitude journal, recording moments of obedience that lead to blessings. As you notice God’s blessings in your life, write them down and thank Him for His faithfulness. Reflect on how your obedience is unlocking His promises in your life.
  4. Share this message with someone.
